PORTFOLIO GROUP EXPERIENCE
The driving force behind The Portfolio Group's success is our President, Richard Kolodny, named by California Law Business as one of the top legal recruiters in California. Before he founded The Portfolio Group in 1995, Rick practiced law at O'Melveny & Myers and served as general counsel of one of the largest private companies in California. Rick received a BA, summa cum laude, from Clark University, an MA in history from Columbia University, and a JD, cum laude, from The University of Michigan Law School. Rick and his team have placed hundreds of lawyers in law firms and in-house legal departments, including many of the most prominent partner, practice group and general counsel placements in California.
Laura Fahey
Laura Fahey received her B.A. from the University of Virginia and her
J.D. from Duke Law School. A former attorney, Laura has practiced in the
private equity and financial services areas of some of the leading law
firms in the country, including O’Melveny & Myers, O’Sullivan
Graev & Karabell and Kramer, Levin, Naftalis & Frankel. Laura
focuses on the placement of partners, counsel and associates with law
firms, corporations and investment banks.
Joanna George
Joanna George received her B.A. in English from Tulane University. She
has experience working in the entertainment and media fields and also
in public relations, where she has assisted in the representation of high
profile clients in the media. Joanna focuses on the placement of associates
with leading national and regional law firms. She is also actively involved
in placing lawyers in corporate legal departments.
Parvaneh Givi
Parvaneh Givi graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara
with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and minors in German
Studies and Exercise Science. She has worked as a soloist as well as a
personal trainer, and will receive her J.D. from the University of Southern
California, Gould School of Law in 2008. Parvaneh places attorneys at
every level with law firms and corporations.
Nancy Lu
Nancy received her B.A. in History, cum laude, from University of California,
San Diego and her J.D. from University of Southern California, Gould School
of Law. Before joining The Portfolio Group, Nancy clerked at Rosen &
Anderson and assisted in structuring business deals for TV shows and Hollywood
feature films. Nancy also founded a Los Angeles based events marketing
company that produced special professional networking events. As a legal
recruiter at The Portfolio Group, Nancy specializes in the placement of
associates at law firms and corporations.
Jessica McCarren
Jessica McCarren received her B.A. in Political Science and Anthropology
from the University of Georgia, and received a J.D. from Notre Dame Law
School. During the past nine years, Jessica was a litigation associate
at a number of Los Angeles and San Francisco based mid-size and regional
firms. Drawing on her prior practice experience, Jessica focuses on the
placement of partners, counsel and associates with law firms and corporations.
Vinci Ng
Vinci Ng devoted her studies to the theater arts at Ithaca College and
at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. She completed
her B.F.A. at The New School University in New York. After graduation,
Vinci worked on various community and regional theater as well as television
productions. She is fluent in Cantonese. Vinci is the Office Manager for
The Portfolio Group.
Quimby Pierce
Quimby Pierce received her B.A. from Dartmouth College and her J.D. at
University of Southern California. Quimby began her practice in the corporate
department of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Inc. She later joined Kaye Scholer
LLP as a corporate associate, where she specialized in mergers and acquisitions,
public offerings and financings. Quimby places lawyers at law firms, corporations
and investment banks, with an emphasis on mid-level and senior attorneys.
Melissa Tom
Melissa graduated with a B.A., cum laude, in Business and Economics from
University of California, Los Angeles. Upon graduation, Melissa worked
in commercial real estate and co-founded a company that managed real estate
projects in Southern California. She places attorneys in all practice
areas with national, mid-size and boutique law firms as well as with in-house
legal departments. Melissa is Director of the Associate Practice Team
of The Portfolio Group.
Robert Visser
A graduate of the George Washington University Law School, Robert most
recently served as of counsel to Bryan Cave in Washington DC. He has practiced
in the international investment, finance and trade area for almost 30
years, representing corporate clients in the United States, Europe, Asia
and South America. He has also been engaged in a governmental relations
practice. Robert focuses on the placement of partners and practice groups
with leading law firms.
